DRY PAIL. I got a good old dry metal kitchen from Target. It works great, I keep it dry, doesn't need a liner (no plastic waste), and does not smell. I was every two or three days. Just remember to strip your diapers/prefolds at least once a month. This means to prewash and wash with dish detergent like Dawn or Ivory. It will get all the amonia out and is not harsh like other products. Then just wash and dry as normal. And cut some fleece to go next to baby's skin. Works great for us!

If by microterry, you mean microfiber DO NOT put it directly next to baby's skin. Microfiber is designed to pull all moisture into its fibers. This will create a bad rash on baby's skin. If you are referring to cotton terry, it is not stay-dry so would not help with baby feeling dry. You can make fleece liners very easy to lay on top of the prefold next to baby's skin for a stay-dry feeling. As far as inserts for the prefold, you can use anything you'd use for a pocket. If she is a heavy wetter something with Zorb or hemp would hold up. HTH!

I use happy heiny sherpa wraped in an indian prefold and I use my prorap cover. Do any of these overnights keep baby skin dry? My daughter gets a rash when wet too long overnight. I want to try inserts with my prefold; like a microterry, but do they stay wet or dry next to baby's skin?

Mary, I have heard of babies being allergic to FOE (fold over elastic). This may or may not be the case with your daughter. Regardless, she is reacting and a change needs to be made. I would try covers with fleece at the legs or minky.

Baby Softwraps
Berry Plush
And any of the wool/fleece covers I have linked to in the last 3 posts.

Asimina, there are a couple of answers for you. 1) Yes. If you keep the lid closed when you open it there will be a stink but just close it fast ;) 2) Maybe not. A good friend of mine and many other families leave the lid open all the time. The reasoning behind this method is a closed container facilitates the breeding of bacteria (smell). 3) No. You may choose to use a wet pail. I recently posted on my wet pail system. http://allaboutclothdiapers.com/to-wet-or-dry-…s-the-questionto-wet-or-dry-pail-itthat-is-the-question You'll have to find what works best for your set up and family.

Hello, I have been looking for the best solution for a diaper pail. I bought two whami reusable liners for the/a pail and I was going to use them in the "diaper champ" but because of reviews on the diaper champ I am now looking for a better system. Some sites say to just use a regular plastic step can... but won't it be stinky every time you open it? - is there a better alternative?
Thank you

Question Autumn, I like to use prefolds but have switched to pockets because my daughter seems to be getting chemical burns from the amonia in the urine. I try to change her every 2-3 hours and use the Thirsties covers. I feel that the urine is wicked into the binding on the covers and this leaves what appears to be burns on her legs and back. Have you heard of this happpening and do you have any suggestions on what other types of covers to try?
