Hello all!

First off, we use mainly BumGenuis 4.0 AIO, KaWaii AIO, and Fuzzibuns cloth diapers.

We started cloth diapering our son at 3 weeks old and had no issues. Then when he turned 3 months old, he started to get a rash around his legs and right below his belly button. It would not go away with CJS butter(safe cloth diaper cream) and turned into a yeast infection. I switched him to disposables and it went away right away. Then I put him back into cloth diapers and he gets a rash after 1 day.

I change him every 1.5-2hours. I have not changed my detergent from before he was 3 months to now. I use ROckin green- cold rinse, hot cycle, cold rinse. The diapers have no stains, no smell.

I stripped them with dawn (the diapers started to leak)and that took care of the leaking but not the rash.

He is now 6months old and we went on a trip. We used disposables & it again went away right away and the day I put the BumGenuis back on, he got the rash again....

please help.

First off: ewww.

I wash my diapers every two days and have recently had to throw out some microfiber inserts that just got too mildewy. Worse than that was one of my beautiful goodmama diapers that looked fine in the morning after it got peed in and was grey when I came home that night.

Relevant facts:
I don't put the lid of my diaper pail because it's not that stinky and I don't want it to get warm and stuffy in there.

The day before my goodmama mildewed, I'd washed and laid all the diapers out to sun for the first time this spring. Could they have picked up extra mildew spores there?

I washed them all with some bleach after the goodmama, which I don't like to do but it had to be done. I don't want to cause premature aging of my diapers but I can't have them mildewing on me.

Should I try grapefruit seed extract? Will the remaining rumparooz microfiber inserts ever look white again? Should I just toss them and buy new ones?

Help! TIA!!

I would like some tips on using coconut oil to prevents redness and rashes on my baby girl's bottom. I'm assuming it's safe to use on cloth diapers with no liner required? Can I use it every day as a preventative? What brand do you use?

I found Nature's Way Virgin Coconut Oil on Amazon and I'm wondering if it would be okay to use: http://www.amazon.com/Natures-Way-Organic-Virgin-Coconut/dp/B003B3OOPA/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top

So today Mayumi came home from daycare with a slight diaper rash (she is very sensitive) but since I don't have any CD friendly cream I just changed her into a CD (sposies at daycare). Everything was fine up until the poop. The first one was formed and it burned (may have been supper). I cleaned her up (ended up using rags because wipes burned) and put a new diaper on her. Then she pooped again (pretty loose) and the screaming began. So once she was cleaned up and had stopped screaming I put a new diaper on her. Again about 30 minutes later she was whimpering and so I checked her diaper, it was went so I took it off and decided to let her run around without one. Well apparently that didn't help because when she was in the kitechen (luckily laminate) she started peeing and she cried the whole time. At this point I decided she needed some diaper cream and a sposie. Well that was the wrong answer too! She screamed and cried liked she was being burned alive so I rushed her to the tub and some cool water. Now she is in bed with some powder and a sposie on...sigh :((
My thoughts are that the poop is what made the rash worse and not the detergent, especially because she came home with the rash. I hoping that it is better by the time she gets home from daycare so that I can put the cloth back on. I need to order some cream stat and was hoping for suggestions...After this I plan to go browse the other discussions for suggestions.

leg red marks (rash?)

We have been cloth diapering my 7.5 month old since she was about 3 months old. We use the best bottoms diaper system (an AI2, liners that snap into shell). She has rather sensitive skin and does get regular diaper rash every now and then. We've been using coconut oil on it which works most of the time. However, my problem is with awful red marks she gets, not in the actual diaper area but on her thighs where the leg gussets are. I guess I'm not even sure if it's techniqually diaper rash or something else. The skin on her thighs get very red, hot, sometimes swollen and eventually gets kind of chapped looking and then begins to peel. I have tried everything I can think of... loosening the diaper (to the point where it often leaks), generously coating her legs as well as her diaper area with the coconut oil, changing her frequently, never using the same shell twice in a row, stripping the diapers 100 ways to sunday... nothing seems to help. The only thing that clears it up is switching to disposables for a while, but the rash always comes back within days of switching ther back to cloth so she has now been in disposables for a couple weeks bc I feel bad about continuing to put her in the cloth ones and "giving" her a rash. Has anyone encountered something similar and/or have suggestions for what may be going on? I've considered an allergy to what ever kind of elastic is in the gussets but the elastic is covered in cloth so I don't see how that would be an issue...

Any thought/suggestions would be appreciated!

Hi All!! So, I have been cloth diapering my daughter since she was 6 months (now 21 months) and I have run in to the 'ultimate problem' of nightime diapering. I LOVE cloth diapering and have mostly Grasshoppers for daytime but working full time and getting ready for baby #2 (due in 4 weeks) has sent me to the horrid land of disposables at night (which she occasionally leaks through as well). So-I have the Sustainablebabyish fleece fitted Medium in size paired with a Sustainablebabyish wool cover and it worked great until recently. She is a super soaker-seriously and leaks through! (she is 22 lbs, long and lean). PLUS, I am dealing with CRAZY ammonia in these fitteds (yes, I have stripped and stripped, still seems to not be helping?) Also, any idea how to get the 'ammonia' smell out of wool covers (regular wool wash did not help). Thanks everyone, any advice would be GREAT!! So-to repeat my questions:

-What do you use for a super soaker at night?
-OR any advice on ammonia stink for fitteds and wool covers?
