I struggled with what hybrid to purchase and I couln't find any new information, so I got them all. I figure I spent the money & time on this so I should share it.

shells - FLIP: love the flip! Never had any leaks and the few times LO got poo on the shell I could easily wipe it off the PUL inside and re-use it if I was in a pinch (like when I forgot a 2nd shell for the diaper bag.) I got them with the buy 2 get 1 free deal so they were very reasonable in price. If you want a one-size & trim this is the best I've found - note my favorite insert with this below.
GroVia: I really wanted to love this one because they come in such cute patterns, but the mesh inside felt damp all the time. I realize this is a bit silly since it is a diaper, but to re-use somthing that already feels damp felt wrong. Good news it never really leaked, just stayed inside on the mesh & on the insert. Also, the GroVia system costs the most.
Gdiapers: I purchased the G's because you can buy them at your local BabiesRUS and they are cute. I did not like them because they always leaked and the cute & soft cotton outter shell was always wet & getting LO's clothes wet. I sold them ASAP. They were the 2nd most costly shell.

cloth inserts - FLIP: since they are a one-size the stay dry insert folds to fit each size. They were a bit more bulky in the small size than I liked. They never leaked and stayed in place very well. I go back & forth on loving this insert and using the Gcloth with my flip instead.
GroVia: cost a ton for only 2, took forever to dry and I didn't like the fact that it snaps in (weird because was the major reason I purchased them in the first place.)
Gcloth: they are trim & I love to use them in my FLIP shell (these are sized in Small and M/L - I used the M/L in the Flip for both the medium & the large sizes. The cost is low & they work great.

disposable inserts - I didn't have a preference between any of them, I realized I like the cloth options better for all the diapers.

If you haven't read my recent post about GroVia inserts you can do so here http://allaboutclothdiapers.com/great-grovia-giveaway/

We camped this last week at Garner State Park. I had Camden in a Hiney Lineys cover and Flip disposable insert. We unpacked everything and then he pooped. Of course it got all over the cover.

Fine I'll just grab the other cover I brought... of course I didn't bring another cover. I always forget one or 10 things.

I had grabbed at the last second my bag of GroVia biosoakers that didn't sell in a garage sale I had long ago. I did happen to bring a Wild Coconut Wear wool soaker so I stuck the GroVia biosoaker in the WCW cover and pulled it up like underwear.

Worked perfect! Only once did some poop get on the cover and it was because it went up the back a bit passed the insert. Overall I am very happy with GroVia Biosoakers! And now I need to find a home for all these Flip inserts :P
