Hey all! I will be a first time mom come October and a first time CD user so I have to literally start at square 1. I have put the following items on my registry to start me off on this journey but I was hoping that ya'll could take a look at my list and help me figure out if I'm missing stuff or not? Or maybe I don't have the right stuff?? I've taken advice i've read online to try out a few CD to see what works before I go crazy and splurge on all of one kind. I figured that when our girl is a newborn I will mostly use disposables and prefolds in the newborn stage and will really get into the bulk of CD when our girl is a bit larger.
What I have registered for: 2 OsoCozy prefolds Size 1 & 2 Snappis 1 Daiper cover Lil Joey 2 pack (for infant) Kissaluvs one size Hybrid daipers 1 Swaddlebee one size All in one 1 Happy Heiney All in one 1 BumGenuis one-size hook & Loop 1 Thirsties Duo Wrap 1 Rumparooz 1 Flip One Size 1 Fuzzi Bunz One size Diaper 2 Fuzzibuns microfiber inserts S& M/L 1 Wetbag 1 Planet Green
I figure the all in ones and the pocket diapers will be easier for me and my husband - am I right? Totally CD clueless!! UGH! They are all going to show up and I'm not going to know how to put them on!!!
I would recommend you to get a few of the FuzziBunz perfect size, either x-small or small. My baby was big (10.7 lbs) and the small fit right away. We've been using them for 2 months now and they'll still fit for a long time. They are also really good for stuffing more than one insert in (we need 2-3 for night and 2 for day). The x-small fit him for the first 3-4 weeks but then they were too small. They will fit a smaller baby longer but it is difficult to fit more than 1 instert in them..
You should also get some hemp inserts, they are much trimmer than the microfiber and absorb more, great for laying under a microfiber insert!
Finally I would remove the 2 FuzziBunz microfiber inserts you have on your list, most of these one size diapers come with 2 inserts and the sized ones come with 1 each. I would rather get a few hemp doublers (I hear hemp babies are great - mine are still in the mail so I haven't tried them yet!).
Good luck! Karianne :-)

I would add cloth wipes and kissaluvs diaper lotion potion to the list. I love the heartiness of the cloth wipes. One can handle what three disposable wipes would.
Also, I would add a detergent sampler to the pack. You gotta be able to wash all the fluff!
Registries are great but unfortunately many people don't buy from them. If you don't get everything you may consider a sampler package from a store like at Nicki's Diapers. When starting out I would recommend trying the super user friendly Ones&Twos and Thirsties DUO AIO. Thirsties is an affordable line all made in the USA. I love all their products.

Thanks for the suggestions! The sampler is such a great idea. My sister actually told me last night that I had TOO many diapers on my registry. What a hag. Maybe I will just go off and buy my own stuff and get my hands on it and keep a few items on the registry so I don't freak out my family so much!! :)
There were great Black Friday sales online last year...so you might want to build your stash after you decide what you want from a sampler or rental package.
I just started CDing @ 8 weeks ago (my daughter is 16 months old) and I have learned so so so much! I did a rental package and I am happy that I did, however I wish I had done one of the 30 day programs instead of a 2 week program. Why? I learned alot more in 30 days than I did on 2 weeks. One thing I did not learn in 2 weeks was how much I really don't care for pockets. Now granted my daughter is not a newborn so maybe this has something to do with it. So of course I purchased a bunch, and now I am looking to sell the ones I just don't care for. A positive thing I learned is that I am a junkie for fitted diapers (thirsties, sloomb & bamboozle) especially the bamboozle and I am in love with the Rumparooz covers. Anyways, good luck and I strongly recommend a longer diaper rental versus a shorter.
