I am looking for diapers and/or covers that don't have to be stuffed, can be wiped down and reused without washing (I need less laundry to have to deal with), and isn't bulky. I would like have the option of mixing and matching inserts and diapers depending on my needs. For inserts I would like ones that are not bulky, but very absorbant, and soft for babies skin. I do have two kids in different sizes, so one size seems nice. However the one size seems to add bulkiness when set at a smaller size. I tried one on my 4 month old and it kept his legs wide spread and looked uncomfortable. I am opposed to buying different sizes, but it would by more cost effective to have one size. Bulkiness is more of a problem than buying multiple sizes.
I bought four different diapers to check out and plan on returning two after simply trying on my baby. I purchased a bumgenius one size 4.0, a charlie banana one size, a flip one size, and a gdiaper size medium. The bumgenius does not fit my need to reuse the shell by simply replacing the insert. Neither does the charlie banana. The flip does fit this requirement, but was rather bulky (on my 4 month old and okay on my 22 month old) with the insert provided. I thought I might keep this one and look into less bulky, but absorbent (to stop leaks) inserts. The gdiaper was the least bulkiest and so far is my top pick for fit. I have only tried all of these diapers on my two babies, and have not tested them, because I want to be able to return them until I know what I am doing. It seems that with the gdiaper and flip I could probably interchange inserts that would suit my needs of being not bulky, absorbent, and soft. Recommendations please!?!?
I would recommend Best Bottoms at nickisdiapers.com. The covers are one size and the inserts are sized, however I only bough mediums and I think they will go a long way. The rise is a bit on the low side I think, or maybe my baby just has a high rise - he is 2 months old and I use the covers on the second largest rise (they have 4 rise options). But I guess the rise has more to do with what size of inserts you buy, lol. There are different inserts to choose from, so far I have only used the stay dry ones and they are really trim and nice! The only thing I would change is that it only has 1 row of waist snaps which is a bit of a problem for us since my baby has chunky thighs but a small waist.. Other than that they are great :-D

I agree with Karianne that Best bottoms would be an excellent option. They are very well made, the stay dry insets are soft and very absorbent, and dry quickly. I also think they are trim fitting too, the trimester cloth diapers we own. I highly recommend them.
I really like the Grovia diapers. I find them trim & very absorbent plus, they are a one size diaper. I have the organic cotton, stay dry inserts & their organic cotton boosters. For night time & long car rides I use the stay dry insert with a booster folded in half in between the layers. The inserts snap in the shell and the only time I have to change shells is if my daughter poops & it gets on the shell. It doesn't happen often but I also use the Grovia throw away liners.
