So my son has been using cloth diapers since one and a half months old, i was loving it for the longest then we got the first real bad rash, Strep on his bottom back in December, had to use disposables for a couple weeks so his bottom could clear and cause he had creams that weren't cd safe and antibiotic to be on. So we cleanse them I used bleach cause a couple other cding friends told me to use it. So after his bottom cleared up and the diapers had been disinfected and cleansed we switched back which i was thrilled because i think of cloth diapers as softer to the bum and cute as well. So then he had a staph infection in march, then it cleared up with treatment(cream n antibiotic) and disinfecting diapers,then he got yeast in April and then in may he had irritation and a open sore i forgot exactly what it was called but it has almost cleared up but this past week he got his first ear infection, well i should actually say double ear infection, my poor 15 month old. I have switched to tide original powder a few weeks ago after smelling an ammonia smell after changing his diaper, they smell clean from the dryer. I also have been using 15 drops of gfse i thought it would keep away yucky crap (any rash,bacteria and yeast) which i have found out i guess i should not be using every wash so i wont use all the time. I am really frustrated cause the yeast may not have been any fault with cding the dr said that the antibiotics could have caused it and most likely have this time, but all of the other antibiotics he had been on in the past could be why he keeps having rash issues. i was using coconut oil every diaper change and plan to continue once his bottom is cleared from this yeast currently we are using nystatin cream and oral bad thing is his dr previously did not do it for the previous yeast we had in the past few months i forgot exactly when cause it has been one thing or the other with his poor bottom. I hope i don't sound like a bad mother cause i do everything and anything i can for my son as most would do for their own child too. I just am at loss of what to do cause it seems as i have done everything. i had bought calgon to use for the moderately hard water we have here in Knoxville,Tn but was told by other local momma's that i didn't need to use it so i took it back and bought the tide plain regular powder in hopes i could get the funk tamed in my diapers soon. I am no longer using my microfiber inserts use and only using prefolds to stuff pockets or on my covers/ai2's. My stash is mainly pocket diapers, fuzzibunz mediums and i have giggle life one size pockets i have two softbums that are the all in twos where your supposed to use snap in inserts which i don't own, so i lay the prefolds on them and i have one bummis medium cover, i also use burp cloths we no longer use for our son. If you have any suggestions let me know or have overcame these problems or similar issues let me know i would love hearing some success stories and methods to cleanse/disinfect diapers as well anything really good for my little man's bottom would be greatly appreciated. It kills me to see his bottom hurt so bad but i think maybe the disposables and the cream and oral medicine will clear it up for this time. i just hope i can solve the diaper issue on the cloth :(
