Help! New to cloth diapering!

Hey everyone! I'm brand new to the CDing world. My son is 5 months right now and we had been using disposables up til now ( actually we are using cloth and disposables until we figure it all out).
I was curious if hemp inserts can be used by themselves in a pocket diaper to make them smaller, they just seem so bulky coming from disposables. Is this just the way CDing is and it becomes the norm Ayer a while? We are currently trying Fuzzibunz and Happy Heinys for pockets and a Bumgenius (my least favorite because it seems so big). Maybe I need to look for another type??

I think you should experiment with inserts to see how they perform. But there are lots of types and you may need to combine a couple to get a longer time out of the diaper. But I am not a pockets person so full disclosure on that. I MUCH prefer all in twos or AI1s for trimness... like BumGenius organic elementals or Rainshine Designs All in twos.
