My DD picked up HFM Disease at daycare...she is almost over the rash and now I'm worried about the diapers. The virus can live for several WEEKS in stool, and babies can get this more than once.
So...do I disinfect every time I wash for a while? I do use TTO for yeast every time but I don't think that will kill a virus. Bleach I do every 2 months or so, but more than that will kill the diapers! I can't afford to put her in disposables for very long.
My normal routine is warm rinse with Bac-out or oxyclean (although I just found out I think I'm using the wrong kind of Bac-out), hot wash with Bum Genius detergent and a vinegar rinse, 1 cold and 1 warm rinse. I have a top loader and hard water that I am struggling with, I have just started adding 1/2 c borax to the wash but I don't think it's helping- there are never any suds when I check the wash cycle.
Anyone have experience with this? I am afraid that disinfecting may be hampered by my current washing issues....
