I am trying to build a cloth diaper stash for my first baby. I don't have a lot of money, and I sew either. I was wondering how to find out about sales, and seconds (I'm not entirely sure what seconds are, but I've heard of them and think I am interested). I want to get enough prefold and covers to start, then maybe I will branch out to a few pockets for overnight.
A few sites have a Deal of the Day: Diaper Junction and Kelly's Closet are two I frequent often. A good way to find out sales ahead of time is to sign up for newsletters. Stores will alert their email subscribers to the sales or seconds first. Cottonbabies is a great one to get in on their seconds sales. Seconds are slightly imperfect products. The majority of the time you can't find the oops. I would check out Cloth Diaper Trader for used prefolds. Here is a link to the current prefold listings http://clothdiapertrader.com/category/prefolds. For a newborn I always recommend Proraps covers. You can usually get those used fairly easy.

Thank you so much! I will definately sign on to some of those websites. I would love to take advantage of a seconds sale for sure. Do you have an oppinion either way on econobums? I have been reading your blog religiously since we started trying to have a baby, and don't see it in your reviews. Also, if I were to purchas recieving blankets from the thrift store to use as flats, would the fact that they have been washed in regular detergent make them less absorbant? And would the blanket be hot on baby during the warmer months? Sorry. That might be a silly question. The blanket is probably not much different than a prefold heat wise, but I have had that thought cross my mind a couple of times.
I ordered a few things from Kelly's Closet and got the free one size so we'll see what I get! So hoping for a Blueberry or Tots Bots but that might be dreaming! LOL
