Poo residue problem

I have a couple Thirsties Duo AIOs, which are great, but I find they don't wash all that well. I let poop sit on one for two days, then rinsed in with my diaper sprayer and washed it like I normally do (short cold cycle with bac-out, hot wash with Country Save, two cold rinses in a regular old fashioned top loader). I am blessed to have neither hard or soft water and have never had problems getting diapers clean in the past. Well, the poopy Thirsties came out with little black specks stuck in the top layer and it smells like poop, so I squirted some bac-out on it, let it sit for a day and then washed it again...still yucky. I have left it in the sun for two days, and still black specks and stinky. What should I try next?? Is the diaper ruined??Lea

Update: I have washed this diaper two more times since my original post and it's still in the same condition. I'm starting to think I'm going to have to try bleach...Lea

Are you sure the black specs weren't there before you washed? I'm just wondering because it sounds like mildew to me. If it mildew, the only thing that will get it out is bleach.

I, too, have the same issue occurring with my baby's poopy diapers. We use several name brands of diapers, but I am experiencing the problem with our GiggleLife microfiber pocket diapers and our Coolababy microfiber pocket diapers. It has become a real issue recently, after my little one started eating more solid foods. I use Thirsties Diaper pre-wash and Thirsties Diaper wash. Recently, I became aware of the fact that Thirsties has stopped making the pre-wash, so I purchased some Bac Out to replace it. I have tried the same things that you have tried, BastiansMommy, with no luck. It is definitely not mold, and it is only affecting our poopy diapers. I have even tried the Dawn dish detergent cloth diaper stripping method to no avail. I am getting desperate, because although these diapers do not smell like anything when they come from the wash, they are causing my son to develop rashes.

Yes! It's been happening to us with him eating more solids too. I've even tried rinsing them right after I change him, and it still happens! I love how microfiber and those types of diapers wick moisture away from my son's skin, but cotton and other natural fiber wash SO much better. I'm also wondering if it has to do with our detergent. I never seemed to have any problems getting my diapers clean when I used Charlie's, but I seem to with Country Save. Or maybe it's just that they need to be stripped and his poop is different now because of what he's eating...??? I did put a little bleach on the affected diaper and it seemed to help.Lea
