I'm new to the cloth diapering system, I'm due in Jan. I am torn between fuzzibunz elite and grovia hybrids. I love the idea of being able to reuse the grovia shell but all the reviews stated that the cotton liner doesn't wick the moisture away from the skin like the fuzzibunz. I'm not so sure about the pocket system and the fact that each fuzzibunz have to be washed after each use and the stuffing part seems annoying. I also have no idea weather to go with a one size from birth until toddler or start with a smaller size then add on later. Thanks for everyone's input
I have never used either of those brands, but just so you know most "one-size" diapers do not fit at birth...they usually start fitting at around 10 lbs (about 3 months), so you if you go that route you will need to purchase some newborn size diapers until then.
I love Grovia but then I discovered Chelory & Ragababe diapers!!!! I sold all of my pockets because I just don't dig stuffing diapers! So now I have the 3 above named diapers & Bum Genius Elementals. Both Chelory & Ragababe have AIO'S & AI2's...... With Chelory you DO NOT need a doubler for extra absorbency but with Grovia & Bum Genius I find you do. I haven't used the Ragababe AI2 system yet, I'm waiting for one to come in the mail but their AIO diapers are awesome! I do add one of their inserts on top for extra absorbency! Hope this helps. Chelory are one size & Ragababe are sized! Hope this helps.
I would suggest some amount of Newborn sized diapers or covers. I know the OS diapers were HUGE on my son when I brought him home. You can get a dozen or two prefolds and covers in NB sizes and use them for that TINY stage. THere's also many different other AI1 or AI2 NB, or at least small sized options available. The good thing about NB stuff is it usually gets used a short amount of time and you can turn around and sell it for most of what you paid for it. I have done that with my NB stuff. I'm with Jamie about the Ragababes. I LOVE them. I love their Organic 2step. They can be hard to come by, but so worth it.

I would slowly build your stash to see what you (and your baby) like. Many OS diapers won't fit properly until the baby is older, plus they might be a pain to fold down for the umbilical cord. Newborns will go through a lot of diapers a day--mine sometimes used 18 if you include the changes where I used three because he wasn't fully done with his business. We used 24 prefolds, 6 covers and 5 AIOs. I wish I had an extra 6 prefolds and 2 covers for peace of mind while the diapers were in the wash. (My routine takes almost 4 hrs.)
Ok so I ordered some fuzzibunz pocket diapers off of ebay. There were 5 small 11med and 13 large. I still am trying to find other brands. I also thought about making my own ai2 diapers. Also what kind of soap should I use to wash them and does anyone have and reswpies for home made soap?
Sorry but what does WAHM mean? I did find her site, but they seem a bit pricey but very nice compared to other brands....(I am currently unemployed so the start up coast is very intimidating right now) but I am really set on cloth diapering and am looking for the best ones. I also am open to used or donated.
For used check Craig's list. I found a ton of great options on there. Also, if you have Freecycle in your community post a wanted. Someone might be done with theirs and be willing to pass them on. Those two sources are where I got 95% of my stash.

I found starting slowly worked well for us too. Ones I thought I would love, I ended up not liking after trying others. I've also loved having a variety rather than one straight system. I researched a bunch and made a lost of brands/diapers I wanted to try. Then I stalked FSOT (for sale or trade) sites to find good deals on the ones I had listed.
At the moment I love our Best Bottoms system (AI2, one size, stay-dry, wipeable interior, totally bulletproof!) and my Bumware AIOs. They both fit my 3-month-old beautifully and are absorbent enough to last 3-4 hours.
I've found almost all of my diapers off of DiaperSwappers. It's a fantastic site with a large FSOT.
