I've been cloth diapering for over a year now and have never had repelling issues of any sort. I strip them periodically and actually did so just last week. This morning I put a freshly laundered pocket diaper on my 2 year old daughter and within a few minutes noticed a pool of fluid at her feet,,,,it was pee! At first I thought perhaps I had left a gap in the legs or something of that nature, but then when I took the diaper off there was still pee pooled in it. I poured that out in the toilet and the diaper was still 100% dry....it's like it's been Scotch-guarded or something :( There are only 2 things that have been relatively different prior to our last wash. 1) My youngest daughter who is 6 mths old has had a relentless yeast rash so we've been using a yeast cream as well as a zinc oxide ointment over top of that per dr. instructions to keep the yeast cream from rubbing off. I have been using flannel liners inside the diapers to protect them. And 2) I used grapefruit seed extract in my last wash to kill yeast spores. So, I'm wondering what has caused this issue as I know it's one of those things because it just happened BAM overnight! I am questioning the fact that I washed my flannel liners along with the diapers and that perhaps some of the diaper cream residue redeposited on my diapers???? Any suggestions? And should I NOT wash the liners with my diapers?

Yes, if you washed the liners with the diapers the cream got deposited on your diapers and that is why the diapers are repelling. When I use liners with creams that are not cloth diaper safe, I hand wash/scrub them with original Dawn separate from my diapers, then rinse the heck out of them...then i can wash as normal in the machine with the rest of my diaperr laundry. You will need to strip all the diapers with Dawn now, and maybe give them a hand wash first as well, using your fingers to scrub in the Dawn into the lining of the pockets. Here's a good guide to stripping, scroll down to read specifically about treating diapers that have been exposed to diaper creams: http://www.pinstripesandpolkadots.com/detergentbasics.htm#Stripping Diapers
