GADbaby’s New Rockin’ Green Cloth Diaper Detergent

facebooktwittergoogle_plusmail

You know what I love about cloth diapering? I’m never bored.  And I never have to worry about money burning a hole in my pocket!

Despite my complete satisfaction in using Kirkland’s Environmentally friendly detergent, I always have this guilt for not using something from a WAHM.

There is something so special about supporting a family, not to mention the pride in using a product that you know was made in the kitchen with the help of the whole family.

When I saw that a “neighbor” had created a natural laundry detergent and one that was perfect for my hard water, I knew I had to try it.

Rockin’ Green Detergent is lovely.  The scent is not overwhelming, but perfectly pleasant.  Before using Rockin’ Green I thoroughly stripped my cloth diapers.  I wanted to make sure to get an accurate assessment of how this detergent works in the long run.

So far I am pleased with the performance.  I always encourage the use of hand-made products.  This is one you won’t be disappointed with.

Before I tell you more about Rockin’ Green I have to tell you a story.  Kim, the GADbaby mama, also sells Green Acre Designs (GADs) cloth diapers.  I always assumed that Kim was the creator of GAD.

Why? Because she has done an amazing job of establishing herself as the GAD website.  It wasn’t until I clicked on her “contact us” page that I discovered she was simply a lover of GAD cloth diapers.

As a WAHM that runs an internet business and is very familiar with internet marketing, I must say Kim has me impressed.  Not to mention, GAD cloth diapers are arguably the best pocket diaper available and that has me coming back to her website many times a week (to window shop of course ;) ).

If you haven’t tried a GAD pocket cloth diaper, you are missing out on the trimmest pocket I have ever used.  They fit like a glove and now you can even choose a luxurious bamboo inner!

GIVEAWAY!! Kim has generously offered a chance for one reader to win a GAD cloth diaper in their choice of insert and color! (details below)

Below is a description of Rockin’ Green Cloth Diaper Detergent taken from the GADbaby website:

Does your rock hard water have you down?

Are you sick and tired of battling with stinky diapers?

Then Rockin’ Green should be on your cloth diaper playlist! It comes in 2 rockin’ formulas and tons of sweet fragrances, which is music to anyone’s ears.

Choose from:

* Soft Rock: A mellow tune that is great for the sensitive little ones in your life.

* Classic Rock: This is the sound that started it all. Our original formula is great for diapers and regular clothes. So use it on everything!

In one of these yummy fragrances-

* unscented
* fresh linen
* baby powder
* cherry almond (this is the one I have…YUM!)
* vanilla lavender
* monkey snacks
* lemon
* cherry lemonade
* brown sugar
* cucumber mint
* ocean rain
* vanilla buttercream
* berrie & cream

This diaper detergent was born out of necessity and perfected over many months. It’s made of all natural stuff, which is good for the planet, and is great for sensitive kiddos that have trouble with conventional soaps. Best of all, it is totally safe for cloth diapers, so you don’t have to worry about repelling.

Got hard water? We got you covered- this stuff was designed to bust through the minerals and grime and leave you with clean smelling, sparkly diapers.

Here’s what a few lucky testers had to say about Rockin’ Green:

I’m amazed and thrilled that your detergent didn’t break my baby out! My diapers have never looked better!

-I just want to tell you that after many many washes with your detergent I can’t bear to use anything else! It is fantastic for our water and gets my dipes so so so clean. Much better than anything else I have used. Thank you! And if you ever think you are going to stop making it please let me know so I can make a LARGE order.

- I love, love, love the detergent, so I will be back for more. It was like a cloth diapering miracle! Now, what the heck do I do with 30lbs of unused Country Save?

-It is fabulous. It’s wonderful!! I need more!!

- I liked it! Used the last of it today and want more.;)

- Clean diapers, no stinkies and no extra rinses. Liked it a lot!

-So much BETTER than my old routine! It will be much easier on my front loader. I won’t have to strip the dipes all the time anymore.

Instructions:

For a top-loading washer, use 2 tablespoons in a full load of laundry. For extremely soiled loads, three tablespoons may be required.

For a high-efficiency washer, use one tablespoon in a full load of laundry. For extremely soiled loads, two tablespoon may be required.

  13. scottandrae1 Says:

    My favorite diaper is the Meadow Lime PUL with Light Blue Microfleece GAD, I love the geen and blue, and love fleece on the inside. I am dying to try this. I also am thrilled to hear about the rockin detergent, because our water is so very hard in our community well. I cannot wait to try it.

  14. Jen D. Says:

    My favorite cloth diaper right now is Sassy Pants which are made by a stay at home mom. I love these pocket diapers. I would love to try a Grobaby cloth diaper, especially the new vanilla one with snaps, but I also would love to a Good Mama fitted diaper…oh there are so many that I have not tried. :)

  20. Mrs_Smithx3 Says:

    2)My Favorite thing to do with my daughter & one in the womb (due end Sept/Beg Oct) I love when my DD cuddles with me and my belly/her sister. She is even calling my belly “Baby” which gets me very excited and emotional because I grew up with 3 brothers(2 older 1 younger) and never got to grow up with my older sister (Plus there is an age difference). It makes me happy to know that my daughters will be close in age, best friends and love each other. I enjoy the little moments with each.

  21. Karin Marie Smith Says:

    First off Autumn I love your blog!! Very helpful to a 1st time mom switching to Cloth!

    1) My fave Cloth diaper at the moment in time would be Fuzzi buns pockets. (I'm new and don't have a big stash) I would love to try Gdiapers with a prefold or these GADbaby dipes sound really good and are cute!

  22. Kristy Says:

    1. Favorite diaper at the moment Mother Ease we no longer have any leaks, but we have a big cloth diaper butt!

    2. My favorite thing to do with the kids (2 yrs & 8 weeks) would be our evening walk down the dirt road with the baby Owen in the Moby wrap and Isabella in the jogging stroller! We see lots of deer and other fun critters you find roadside out in the boonies :)

  23. nmoeller01 Says:

    My favorite thing to do with my boys is play barefooted with them in the backyard. The zen time we have together outside in the grass is what I most look forward to!

  24. Karen Says:

    It is hard to pick a favorite thing to do with my children, but I guess I would have to say that I really love playing in bed with my two girls in the morning. It is rare that we get to do this as I work 4 days a week, plus my older DD (6 yrs. old) has school 7 days a week if you count Sunday school. Both girls like to laze around in the morning and we love to just cuddle and tumble when we get the chance. Thank goodness for summer vacation!

  25. Karen Says:

    My DD is a heavy wetter. I have tried BGs and they worked for a while. I am into Softbums now (per Autumn;s suggestion) but Sarah, herself, says they can't be overstuffed (which I need for nights). So, after reading Diaper Pin reviews, I would like to try Very Baby Simply Nights as I've heard fitteds work well for nights since they offer more coverage, and I like that there is a fleece lining to keep the skin dry. Hoping to sell off the BGs to fund one of these new ones.

  26. nmoeller01 Says:

    Our favorite diapers are pockets, but it is a toss up between Bumgenius 3.0 and GADs. I really would like to try the bumgenius organics…I bet they are so soft!

  27. tarasmunn Says:

    I love going for walks around town with the kids in the evenings. Great time for catching up and just being relaxed as a family.

  29. jeniver Says:

    My favorite things to do with my kids is to curl up and read a book together. From 2 to 9, they all love this too.

  30. jeniver Says:

    My favorite cloth diapers happen to be ones I have made recently. They are pockets with Alova Suedecloth as an inner and PUL as the outer. I have extended the rise and tabs to fit my son and love them. He is 27 months and no where near potty training, so these will last a while.
    I would love to try GADbaby's pockets or any other pocket that is trim and easily adjustable. I prefer snaps over velco and like fitted back and legs.

  31. Denise Says:

    Baking is my favorite thing to do with my kids, even my 2 yr old loves to stir cake or cookie batter.

  32. Denise Says:

    My blueberry OS minky is my current favorite & I'm eager to try the GAD I ordered last week.

  33. Denise Says:

  35. Heather Says:

  36. Heather Says:

    I LOVE fuzzi buzz and am trying the new os now. I am dying to try a blueberry or even a GAD after reading your review of them!

  37. Joceline Says:

  38. Joceline Says:

    I would love to try this detergent! My favorite thing to do with my kids and husband is to go for long walks in the city, where there is lots to look at and explore!

  39. Kristy Says:

    My favorite cloth diaper is the BG 3.0. I love how bulletproof it is and how trim it fits. I'm dying to try a Sposoeasy AIO or a Grobaby….the reviews of both seem amazing.

  40. Kristy Says:

    My favorite thing to do with my son is playing on the floor with him and snuggling him in bed in the mornings. He is soo cuddly.

  41. Sarah Davis Says:

    my fav diaper is my nighttime sustainablebabyish. really want to try GAD.

  42. Andrea Says:

She reaps the benefits of he being a happy and proud dad and I reap the benefits of having a happy and sometimes more romantic husband……:)

  48. Heather Hansen Says:

    My diaper of choice right now is kissaluvs, however, I am really leaning to either swaddlebees or happy heinys

  49. Jennifer Says:

    My Fav. – fuzzi bunz…I would like to try a GAD after reading this!
    I love to be outdoors with my kids! Hiking, Biking, Camping etc…..I love the mountains of
    western NC!

  50. sherilm Says:

    My favorite thing to do with my daughter is to tickle her. Baby giggles are the sweetest sound ever!

  51. sherilm Says:

    Our cloth diaper supply isn't very extensive. Right now my favorite would have to be the BumGenious 3.0. However, we only use it at night because of the bulk but it's great at keeping everything in until morning. I would love to try the GADBaby diapers. My daughter is very small for her age and a trim diaper would be great!

    ) Tell me your favorite cloth diaper and which one you are dying to try!

  54. Rachel Says:

    My baby hasn't arrived yet, so I don't have a favorite cloth diaper. I'm planning on using prefolds with thirsties covers but would also like to try the gdiapers and gro baby system.

  55. Lori Says:

    My favorite thing to do with my DD (7 months) is to listen to her giggle, it just melts my heart. :)

  56. slee Says:

    love to sing and bake with Mongoosine, and I LOVE late night cuddelz with Snapdragon!
    The two of them together? That's a tough one because he's all infanty and she's all 10! We all enjoy a good brightly colored movie together.

  57. Lori Says:

    My current fave diaper is BumGenius AIO.

    I am dying to try the GAD Pocket Diaper – not trying to sound like a brown noser, but I'd love to see for myself why Autumn says they are the best pocket diaper. Everyone always says BG are the best, so I'd love to compare the 2!

  58. Natasha Dueck Says:

    My favorite cloth diapers are the bumgenius aio. They fit my 6-month-old perfectly, and no leaks so far. I really want to try some Grobabies.
    And since my son is only 6 months old, the thing I love to do with him is make him giggle.

  65. Nancy Says:

    My favorite thing to do with my daughter is just play with her. I love to see her smile and have fun. She's almost 8 months old so there isn't much we can do at this point as far as activities go.

  66. Janel Says:

    Don't have a favorite diaper since I haven't started cloth diapering yet (baby #3 is due in October) but I have been buying a few brands here and there to try and this one looks great as well! So far I have a few BumGenius, and some gDiapers. Favorite thing to do with my kids is to make cookies or bread!

  67. Nancy Says:

    I think my favorite right now is GAD (so I'd love to win this giveaway). I haven't tried the GroBaby system so I've been wanting to try that.

  68. Kathleen Says:

    My favourite thing to do with my son is to wear him in our wrap-tai carrier, and snuggle. He loves being close but still looking around, and so we get to take walks or he can nap that way; he's starting to babble (and talk just a little), so it's a wonderful way to be close while doing other things and socialise.

  69. Kathleen Says:

    My favourite diaper right now is our Tohu Boho Baby Chic (Lilies of the Valley) diaper. It's a new one made by a SAHM in Toronto; she uses this really plush inner to wick moisture up. They also are super for overnight diapers for my son, who is a heavy wetter. You lay your inserts or prefolds in it, so I guess it's an all in two? I found her on Hyenacart when I was looking for a baby wrap (she has gorgeous ones). I think she also is on Etsy.

    The one I'm super curious to try is the GroBaby diaper in snaps. They look very nice. I could use something a little more convenient than tie dipes or prefolds when going out.

  70. karen Says:

    My favorite thing to do with my daughter is cuddle up in bed inthe morning & share some quite snuggling time!

  74. Kristen Says:

The summer weather is here and any time of day is great for a bike ride! I also enjoy walking and/or jogging along with them while they ride their bikes, since I have a nice jogging stroller and my little man can come too!

    My favorite thing to do with my girls is taking them out to eat. I find we have the most fun. They really feel like they're getting away with something getting to pick out their own kid's meal and we have the sweetest conversations. They are 2, 4, & 6 years old right now.

  109. Melissa Says:

    My favorite cloth diaper is the MEOS in bamboo. It is so soft, and with an added doubler it is very absorbant! I love that it has no elastic so it doesn't leave marks on baby's thighs.

    I want to try a GAD now. I've always seen them but never taken the plunge to try one. :)

  110. brandy Says:

    my fave thing to do with my children is going for our morning daily walks. we live on a busy street and the mornings its fairly quiet. its nice to wear my 10 month old while my 3yr old walks holding my hand and we just chat about things.

  111. brandy Says:

    i have a few faves
    my fave fitteds are BSRBs

    My favorite cloth diaper is my Fuzzi Bunz. The one i've always wanted to try but never have is the Blueberry pockets. Maybe next time.

    My favorite thing to do with my kids is take them to the lake to play in the water. They can spend hours looking for zebra muscle and snail shells.

  114. Vicky Says:

    My kids are still pretty young … 22 months and 4.5 months. I love rocking them to sleep as it is a calm moment that we can talk, sing or just cuddle! :)

  115. Vicky Says:

    I have many favorite diapers but one of my all time favorites at the moment is my Sustainablebabyish bamboo fitted in the color sprout. It is so soft and fluffy!

    Not sure what I would like to try next but the Smartipants has me intrigued,

  123. Dana Says:

    Oh, I forgot to say which one I want to try. I have been peeking at Goodmamas for a while now but after my disappointment with the SOS I ordered, I’m really chicken to get a GM and end up hating it like I did with the SOS! :(

  124. Dana Says:

    2) I love to play outside with my 14 month old daughter. She has an unabashed love of the outdoors and seemingly has no fear. I really admire it. She loves to play in the water and on the slides (sometimes even at the same time!)

  125. Dana Says:

    1) My favorite cloth diaper is the Coolababy pocket. It works just as well as my BG, and as a bonus it has snaps! Perfect for my kid who likes to roll around and nighttime and has a tendency to peel the BG’s right off her body in doing so.

  126. Skye Says:

    I love doing craft projects with them or hanging out outside!
    Sleep comes to mind also……lol!

  129. Erin Says:

    My favorite thing to do with my kids is something we do every day… dancing & singing! My daughter loves to spin around until she falls down while we sing and her little brother loves to watch & giggle along. Nothing I love more than watching my beautiful kids having a great time!

  134. Jaime Says:

    It’s so hard to pick a favorite cloth diaper. So far of the ones I have I probably go to my BumGenius one size pocket diapers first. I just got some haute pockets in the mail and can’t wait to try them. I love trying new ones the GADbaby ones come in so many pretty colors!

  138. Janet Houle Says:

    My favorite cloth diaper is my own – muggabug – which I am in the process of perfecting. It is an organic bamboo fleece with a snap in liner and additional snap in doubler for night time.

    I would really like to try a Blueberry. They look so yummy and soft.

  139. Tina Says:

    My daughter is only 16 mos, so we like to go to the park and swing…or go hiking.

  142. Jillian Keeler Says:

    My favorite thing to do with my daugheters (ages 4 & 19 months), is to push them on the swing. They get a kick out of ‘flying’ through the air.

  144. Elizabeth Albrecht Says:

    Softbum AI2 snap w/ bamboo inserts are my favorite! I am waiting for BG organics to arrive in the mail to try.
    My favorite thing to do w/ my kids is anything that has anything to do w/ water. Swim, splash, scoop, pour, run through it or just watch them take a dip in the tub. It’s awsome!!!

  145. Sabrina Says:

    I’m new to CD, but we have gdiapers, BumGenius pockets, & FuzziBunz pockets. I want ot try the BumGenius AIO next and the gdiapers with the prefolds. Plus I REALLY want to try the Green cloth diaper detergent. I’m currently using BioKleen and like it pretty well.

    My favorite thing to do with my kids is take them to our cabin. It’s simple, not a lot of toys or distractions. No phone, no tv, just music to dance to and lots of time to be one on one (or in our case, 2 on 3!). We go for walks, visit the neighbors, throw rocks in the creek, hike to the lake, & ride quads. It’s a beautiful life! We even recently installed a washing machine which is run by batteries. We can do cloth at the cabin now!!

  146. Kim Frey Says:

    My favorite thing to do with my kids is snuggickle… Lay on my bed, snuggle and tickle. :)

  151. Nicole Leas Says:

    So far I have not found a cloth diaper that I do NOT love! I have favorites for different reasons so how do I choose???? I absolutely love my GADs (of course)! Love how trim it is and love the side snaps! :) and I LOVE my Smartipants! :)

    My favorite thing to do with my kids is to swim in our pool we all have a blast even my little one

  153. Heather Says:

    It seems that every moment spent with them is awesome (most of the time!) but I love love love playing outside with them in the fall and winter (it’s so darn hot here that summer kills me!) and visiting outdoor festivals. Experiencing new things through your children’s eyes has easily got to be one of the BEST things about parenthood! Daddy told me that, and he was so right!

  154. Heather Says:

    Not to copy Autumn, but I seriously love the Bum Genius all in one organic one size. it’s very trim and I love how soft the organic cotton is!

    As far as “want to try”…..there are a few, despite the MANY I’ve tried, but Blueberry, Rumparoos, and GADs are all ones I’ve heard great things regarding, yet I’ve never tried.

    My favorite thing to do with my 3 children (ages: almost 3, 20 months, and 4 months) is take them on walks around our neighborhood.

  159. Vanessa Says:

    I have only ever used pre-folds with Bumis Super Whisper Wraps. I like them but I really want to try gDiapers with prefolds instead of the flushable liners.

  160. Elisha Says:

    I love to do anything outdoors with my three boys. swimming, bike riding, horseback riding, the lake..you name it!

  161. Elisha Says:

  163. MiksMom Says:

    Favorite thing to do with kiddos: I love it when my ODD tells me stories! And she is reading, very independently, now – so that is fun too!

  164. Clare Says:

    My favorite thing to do with my sons is go outside and play. Sometimes we just so happen to take a walk by our favorite gellato shop and just have to stop in for a treat. Its a local mom-run business so that means the calories don't count, right? We had a long winter here in Wisconsin so its nice to finally be able to get out!!!

  165. Rina Says:

    Favorite thing to do with kids: we LOVED the beach! We go for the day, take a picnic or eat home made dish and they just play in the sand and water. I'm also love to bring them to the gardens and let them play around, touch everything….flower, grass, stones.

  166. Clare Says:

    I'm so new to cloth diapering, its hard to pick a favorite diaper because I've only used each for a few months. Can I say a tie between my haute pocket diaper and my bum geniuses? I've been adding to my stash very slowly and buying mostly pre-loved and second quality diapers, so I'd be so excited to get a first quality unused diaper! There are so many I want to try–GAD baby, Swaddlebees, bamboo fitteds. Someone should warn you that this stuff is so addictive!!

  167. Rina Says:

    Favorite cloth diaper: GAD (70% of my CD stash)

    Want to try: The new Kissaluvs Marvel

  172. Shelby Says:

    Oh, oops! I forgot to put what diaper I want to try! I really have no screaming desire to brand out from what we have (which is a little bit of everything), but I would like to try the Gro-Baby someday. It looks like a really fun diaper, and I love how simple it looks. And that aplix/velcro has me intrigued!

  173. Kelly Says:

    My favorite diapers are fuzzi bunz. I would love to try pre-folds and covers, as boring as that may sound. I started with pockets and that is all I have ever used.

  174. Shelby Says:

    Really anything I get to do with my children anymore is my favorite. I recently had to go back to work after being a SAHM for almost 3 years, and it’s been pretty rough. So I love just watching them and playing with them. And of course, cuddling up to them in bed after a long day and just enjoying the feel of my family. ***WINNER OF GAD POCKET!***

  175. Shelby Says:

    It’s gonna sound kinda “buttkissy” but GAD’s seriously are my FAVORITE pocket diaper. After the first one I tried, I got an addiction, and within weeks had added I think 8 to my collection. I have sense bought more, because they really are the BEST out there. They last longer than any of my diapers, and very rarely leak, and only if it’s my fault and left it on too long. LOVE MY GADS!!!
