Oh how I wish I could give one of these diapers to every one of my readers.
To have the word “perfect” in the name of the diaper is no accident. I love this diaper.
But, my love isn’t enough for you to buy Softbums PerfectFit All-In-Twos for your children. I’ll give you a breakdown of price, adjustability, containment, trimness, absorbency, and ease of use so that you can see for yourself that Sarah has created a cloth diaper for everyone.
First, in this picture is my beautiful 26 month old daughter Paisley. Paisley weighs 28lbs, is 35″ tall and her rise is approximately 16″.
She is not a skinny minnie but not a chunky monkey either.
Softbums Premium PerfectFit All In Two
Price: Basic Pack includes cover, 3 snap in inserts- $48.50. That breaks down to about $17 for a one-size AI2 diaper. An extremely economical cloth diapering system.
Adjustability: fits thighs from 2″ to 16″. Paisley has a short rise and I always have trouble finding diapers that fit her well. Softbums allows me to adjust the elastic enough to create a perfect fit. The PerfectFit Snugger system adjusts the thigh and rise with a simple, quick move. The first time I put this cloth diaper on Paisley I pulled it too tight. When I saw red marks I knew this and made a tiny adjustment. Literally, you can move it millimeters. Once I made this change there were no red marks and there have been no leaks. Which leads me to the next category…
Containment: I am so glad that Paisley is more than willing to put a diaper to the extreme test. After wearing the Softbums for a couple of hours and needing a diaper change Paisley decided she needed to hide in the backyard and poop… a lot. Every boundary of this diaper was tested, as was my stomach. BUT, there was not a single leak of pee or poo. I immediately threw the diaper into a prewash (it wasn’t solid or else I would have dunked in toilet and tossed in diaper pail). After a pre-wash, wash and rinse the white inner is still stain-free
Trimness: As you can see from the picture this is a super trim cloth diaper. Sarah also has a rectangular doubler that you can add for extended use and it adds no bulk. I was able to put a pair of blue jeans on Paisley that can only be worn with really, really trim cloth diapers.

Absorbency: Sarah gives you 3 options for snap in doublers: hemp, bamboo and microfiber. I like hemp because of it’s superb performance and because it makes me feel safe. Sometimes Paisley will play in the backyard for hours before coming in and getting a diaper change. I have not had a leak regardless of horrendous poopies or hours of pee. Of course, leaving a pee diaper on a child is not a good thing BUT for review sake I will say that it has shown me the performance of the Softbums AI2. I have not used this diaper at night but Paisley is not a heavy night wetter (usually). I would feel confident using the Softbums but as I always do I would cover with wool for that extra protection.
Ease of Use: This diaper is one anyone can use. The aplix closures makes it a favorite for dads, babysitters and grandparents. Because of the wide snap in insert the cover doesn’t get wet after a pee and if it’s a big pee the cover is just damp. The insert is easy to switch out for multiple uses.
Details: legs are turned and topstitched, no redmarks unless over-tightened, waist adjustabilty is wide with cross over tabs, strong laundry tabs, PerfectFit snugger is easy to access, wide snap-in insert keeps cover clean, white microfleece inner on cover, snap-ins are available in wide variety of materials, and extra long soaker allows for a one-size fit plus fast dry time and let’s you move the fold over to the middle or front.
CONTEST!!! Because I love this diaper so much I want to give one away! Let’s have some fun here. The first to guess the exact or closest to my pregnant belly circumference will win.
Hint: I’m 5’8″, gained 25lbs, and 37 1/2 weeks.
We have a winner! Tasha was the first to guess 43 1/2″! Let us know what you think about the Softbums Premium PerfectFit AI2! And for those who asked, we don’t know if it is a boy or girl yet

Happy labor dust to Autumn!
wahoo! almost time!!! your pregnancy has flown by for me
I just stumbled upon your blog and saw this review. We are just entering into the cloth diaper world with baby #4. She’s almost 5 months old. I am on day 5 of my 21 day trial pack with Jillian’s Drawers and I have ruled out anything that isn’t natural touching my baby’s skin. I like the hemp and bamboo options and trimness of this diaper. You say you don’t use it at night. What do you use at night? Do you use this diaper when going out and knowing you may not be able to change for an extended period of time? Thanks!
Krista, I use sustainablebabyish bamboo fitteds or a doubled up Flip for nighttime. For extended car rides I feel comfortable using a Bum Genius organic aio, rumparooz or Flip.
Hi Autumn, I read in your grobaby post that your preference of hybrid cloth diapers are 1) Flip 2) Softbums and 3) Gro Baby — I am deciding which ones to get out of these 3 (first time CD — my baby is 3 mth-old)… The cloth diapers are very expensive (we’re from Malaysia … and one of these costs about RM100… imagine spending 100 bucks on just ONE diaper!), we cannot afford a mistake purchase. Can you please share with me why you prefer FLIP over the other 2 brands? I’ve read some reviewers’ comments that the Flip’s insert tend to bunch up or move out of place and cause leaks. Do the front and back flap (that keeps the insert in place) get soiled/wet? I’d really appreciate your help! THANK YOU!!! Yours, Dominique
Dominique, you have me nervous to answer! I’d hate to lead you toward one choice and it be totally wrong for your baby and lifestyle. I’ll list advantages of each.
Flip: trim, cover can be rinsed easily if soiled, stretchy snap tabs, absorbent inserts, affordable.
Softbums: trim (not as trim as Flip which are similar to a disposable), amazing toggle adjustment–ensures a perfect fit, velcro closure is strong and offers much adjustability.
For me, it’d be a toss-up b/w Flip and Softbums. The more reliable system (meaning least leaks) has been Flip. There are so many things that I like about Softbums but I don’t recommend it as #1 because of the fleece lined shell and occasional leaks.
As far as the flaps on the flip, I don’t tuck the insert in them. I also have not had bunching problems with the insert. I adjust the rise to where it is a tight fit and the insert stays in place.
I pray this helps you!
I tried the Flips while waiting for my softbums to arrive, and I was really disapointed. They shifted and bunched on my little one. It was also harder to put on my wiggly baby he is 8 months old. I just received my softbums and will try them out. I like the way it has a snap so it helps the insert stay in place.
However, my friend has a 3 month old and loves the flips.
