Have you ever considered that where you shop could make a difference in a family’s life? I don’t always remember that.

Sure, there are times when I intentionally by a WAHM product but when it comes to online boutiques I often forget that there is a mom behind that shopping cart.

We can all get caught up in a routine of shopping at the same place (I’m so guilty of this!) or going with Amazon because it’s easy.

But, what if the next time you had a cloth diaper need you chose to support a brand new store? That is an awesome privilege. Look where Bum Genius is today. They had a beginning, a very small one. Now look at the success!

Today I will introduce you to Jillian the owner of Tooter Pants. It is hard for me to not support someone when I get to know through these interviews!

Currently, Tooter Pants carries CJ’s Butter, Fuzzi Bunz Elite, GroVia, Rumparooz, Monkey Foot Designsand (coming soon!) Sustainablebabyish. That’s a great start to a successful inventory…5 of those are in my regular arsenal.

Tell us about your family.

Our family is made of 4 humans (well almost, the 4th is due March 30th!), 2 dogs, 3 cats and 4 chickens. My husband Sean is a super supportive, loving, wonderful father. Our son Rowan will be 2 in February and he is super excited about meeting his little brother! We all enjoy playing in the outdoors together, going for walks in the woods on our property and gardening.

When did you start using cloth diapers?

We started using cloth diapers with Rowan when he was 2 months old. I had friends and family members who had used cloth, and it just seemed to fit with our life. Also the first 2 months that we used disposables we were amazed at how fast a pail filled up with dirty diapers going to the dump, and the amount of money we were basically throwing away!

Why did you get into the business of selling cloth diapers?

Cloth diapers is something that has turned in to a sort of passion for me. I love that they keep chemicals away from my sweet little man’s bottom and reproductive parts. I love the idea of having a business that is good for the earth, good for people, and also helps spread awareness of the waste we can be avoiding. I have also been overjoyed at how helpful and wonderful people have been to me along my cloth diapering journey, and I would love to pass that on to someone else who is starting out and has questions and needs help!

Why should customers choose Tooter Pants for their cloth diaper needs?

That is a hard one, there are so many wonderful stores out there! We are just starting up, so I suppose what makes us unique would be that we offer free shipping on all orders, and will ship same day if you order by 2pm PST. I want to go above and beyond with customer service, helping with anything that might arise in the whole cloth diapering experience.

What is your favorite product that you carry?

Another hard one! I love all of the products we carry, which is why we are carrying them! I must say I have a special place in my heart right now for the newborn diapers, since those will be what our newest addition will be wearing soon. I also love all the variety and beautiful prints that we carry in the Monkey Foot Designs wetbags – they are so fun! And for exciting things to come, I love that we will soon be carrying fitted and wool from Sustainablebabyish – they are our go to diaper for nights!

What is your go-to advice for parents new to cloth diapering?

Don’t buy a whole stash of one brand of diaper – try a little bit of everything to see what works for you and your baby’s unique body shape. What works amazing for one family might not work so great for another, so you really have to mix and match and see what works! Don’t get frustrated if the first thing you try doesn’t work, because you will find something that you love!
